On 21 August 2025, the Provincial Disaster Management Centre (PDMC) hosted a Women’s Disaster Commemoration Event at the Banquet Hall in Vryburg.
The event formed part of the national celebrations of Women’s Month, dedicated to recognizing and honoring the role of women in society. It brought together women from different communities, government departments, and disaster management stakeholders to reflect on their contributions, resilience, and leadership in times of crisis.
The commemoration served as a platform to celebrate women’s strength, share experiences, and highlight the importance of empowering women in disaster risk management and community resilience.
Through this gathering, the PDMC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women’s voices and leadership in building safer, more prepared communities.
